What will I learn?
Key skills covered in the workshop include:
Techniques and tools for pearl and bead knotting
Choosing suitable threads for pearls and stone beads
Measuring and preparing your bracelet for accurate sizing
Drilling and preparing the first and last beads
Knotting methods using different tools and approaches
Finishing techniques for a secure and professional clasp
What will happen on the day?
We’ll begin the workshop with introductions, giving you a chance to meet both the tutor and the other participants. To start, you’ll look at examples of different pearl knotting styles and finished bracelets, which will provide some inspiration and a sense of what’s possible with the techniques you’ll be learning.
From there, we’ll go through the essential tools and materials, as well as where to source them. You’ll also receive notes to take home, so you’ll have a handy reference for practising after the workshop. Once you’re set up, you’ll measure and prepare your pearls for stringing, including drilling and preparing the first and last beads.
The practical work begins with the first section of your bracelet, where you’ll learn how to start your knots and begin the process of stringing. As you move into the middle section, you’ll get the chance to try out three different knotting techniques, experimenting with tools and methods to find what works best for you.
Finally, we’ll focus on how to complete your bracelet neatly, securing the end knots and attaching the clasp. By the end of the session, you’ll leave with your own finished pearl bracelet and the knowledge to continue developing your knotting skills at home.
