WHAT ARE THE 2026 THEMES?

Each theme takes inspiration from a special guest, paired with a book chosen to reflect each their artistic approach.

February: The Silmarillion

As FORGE marks its third birthday this February, join award-winning goldsmith Leonid Dementiev for The Silmarillion, a showcase inspired by Tolkien’s mythic world. This theme celebrates the maker’s hand and the pursuit of what is precious — from the elemental and ancient to the innovative and contemporary. We invite designs that evoke myth and mastery, celebrating exceptional craftsmanship.

“He is a smith and a master of all crafts, and he delights in works of skill, however small, as much as in the mighty building of old. His are the gems that lie deep in the Earth and the gold that is fair in the hand, no less than the walls of the mountains and the basins of the sea.”
— The Silmarillion by J. R. R. Tolkien

March: The Golem and the Jinni

Award-winning silversmith and jeweller Jessica Jue invites you to join The Golem and the Jinni — a showcase exploring the dialogue between silver and gold. Renowned for her sculptural forms and use of 24-carat gold, Jessica redefines silversmithing to create refined contemporary pieces featuring elegant touches of gold. The exhibition highlights exquisite works that incorporate this precious metal in innovative ways.

“But whether luck or skill guided his path, the Jinni was never caught out and roamed wherever he would. He used these trips as opportunities to search for veins of silver and gold, for the jinn are natural metalsmiths, and this one was unusually adept. He could work the metals into strands no thicker than a hair, or into sheets, or twisted ropes.”
— The Golem and the Jinni by Helene Wecker

April: The Golden Key

Tamara Gomez invites you to The Golden Key, a showcase celebrating the magic found within the earth’s hidden treasures. Inspired by moments of revelation and discovery, this theme invites designs that draw on geological wonders — exploring ways of expressing the allure of gemstones, where sparkle, depth, and imperfection reveal individuality and wonder.

“He stood and pondered. It could not be that the way stopped here, else what was the path for? He examined the face of the rock. It was smooth as glass. But as his eyes kept roving hopelessly over it, something glittered, and he caught sight of a row of small sapphires. They bordered a little hole in the rock. “The keyhole!” he cried.”
— The Golden Key by George MacDonald

May: The Secret Garden - London Craft Week Special

At FORGE, we are thrilled to feature talented jewellery designers in our special showcase for London Craft Week. This exclusive event the exceptional design and craftsmanship. Designers have the unique opportunity to showcase collections in our showroom, celebrating their craft and engaging with enthusiasts, collectors, and industry experts.

Led by Kayo Saito, The Secret Garden, is a celebration of growth, renewal, and the beauty found in nature’s details. Designers are invited to explore vitality, tenderness, and strength — tracing the rhythms of change, creation, and balance that reawaken life through craftsmanship and form.

““There is Magic in there—good Magic, Mary. I am sure there is... even if it isn’t real, something is there!” And indeed it seemed in the months that followed. Oh! the things which happened in that garden! The seeds grew as if fairies tended them... roses came alive day by day. Buds—tiny at first but swelling and working Magic—burst and uncurled into cups of scent.”
— The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett

June: The Pearl

Join Chris Boland for The Pearl, a showcase inspired by the natural beauty and complexity of pearls and gemstones. Drawing on the interplay between perfection and imperfection, this theme honours the meeting of nature and craft — from the raw forms shaped by sea and sand to the mastery of making, where structure meets fluidity and beauty is found in the unrefined.

“The beauty of the pearl, winking and glimmering in the light of the little candle, cozened his brain with its beauty. So lovely it was, so soft, and its own music came from it-its music of promise and delight, its guarantee of the future, of comfort, of security. Its warm lucence promised a poultice against illness and a wall against insult. It closed a door on hunger...”
— The Pearl by John Steinbeck

July: The alchemist

Acclaimed designer Rebecca de Quin invites you to The Alchemist, a showcase exploring transformation through the language of metal. Inspired by Paulo Coelho’s classic, this theme celebrates experimentation and exploration — from patination, texture, and form to the balance between traditional and contemporary techniques. We invite designs that embody transformation, material mastery, and the alchemy of craft.

“The book that most interested the boy told stories of alchemists. They dedicated their lives to the purification of metals; they believed that, if metal were heated for many years, it would free itself of all individual properties, and what was left would be the Soul of the World. They spent years observing the fire, so close that they gave up the vanities of the world. The purification of the metals had led to a purification of themselves.”
— The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

August: Great Expectations - Forging Futures

At FORGE, we are dedicated to nurturing emerging talent through our Forging Futures showcase. This program is tailored for recent graduates and early-career professionals in their first two years of business, providing them with a platform to step into the commercial world. Designers have the opportunity to display their work in our street-level showroom and gain valuable insights through business and sales skills workshops.
Step into Great Expectations — a celebration of new journeys, ambition, and the forging of futures. Inspired by Charles Dickens’ tale of transformation and self-discovery, this exhibition offers emerging designers a platform to showcase their work, follow their aspirations, and shape the first links in their creative journey — where promise meets possibility.

“That was a memorable day to me, for it made great changes in me. But it is the same with any life. Imagine one day struck out, and think how different its course would have been. Pause, you who read this, and think for a moment of the long chain of iron or gold, of thorns or flowers, that would never have bound you, but for the formation of the first link on one memorable day.”
— Great Expectations by Charles Dickens

September: The Giver

Enter a world alive with vibrant hues and delicate shades with Jane Moore for The Giver, a showcase celebrating colour’s power to stir feeling and memory. Inspired by Lowry’s vision of a world awakened through colour, this theme unites jewels that bring vibrancy to life. From palettes of gems to soft enamel tones, colour plays a key role in shaping jewellery’s expressive power.

“You’re beginning to see the color red.” “It was so — oh, I wish language were more precise! The red was so beautiful! ... Do you see it all the time?” “I see all the colors ... When you receive the memories. You’ll gain wisdom, along with colors.” Jonas wasn’t interested, in wisdom. It was the colors that fascinated him. “Close your eyes. I’m going to give you a memory of a rainbow.”
— The giver by Lois Lowry

October: Moby-Dick

Sonny Bailey-Aird invites you to embrace light and shadow in Moby-Dick, a showcase exploring the elemental origins of beauty. Inspired by Melville’s depiction of brilliance emerging from darkness, we want bold designs that push traditional boundaries — forging raw materials into lasting beauty, from star-like diamonds to molten metal, where brilliance is born.

“Though in the day, suspended against a blue-veined neck, the purewatered diamond drop will healthful glow; yet, when the cunning jeweller lays it against a gloomy ground, and lights it up... Then come out those fiery effulgences, infernally superb; the evil-blazing diamond, once the divinest symbol of the crystal skies, looks like some crown- jewel stolen from the King of Hell.”
— Moby-Dick by Herman Melville

November: The Paper Magician

Join master makers Paul Wells & Anastasia Young for The Paper Magician, a showcase exploring transformation through form, fold, and structure. Guided by a story where craft becomes creation, this theme invites sculptural pieces, vessels, and jewellery that explore form and materiality — where metal is folded, forged, and raised through hand processes into fluid, 3-dimensional forms.

““Everything is made of Folds,” he explained, Folding a sheet of paper in half, then in half again. “The trick is getting the Folds right. Everything must be aligned just so, or the spells won’t work. Just as you can’t enchant a mirror if it doesn’t reflect a perfect image.” Ceony watched his hands move the paper this way and that. It bent under his touch like water, and he never struggled getting the paper to obey his direction.”
— The Paper Magician by Charlie N. Holmberg

December: A Christmas Carol - Christmas Special (priority given to 2025 exhibitors)

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Experience the magic of the season at our Christmas Showcase, where talented designers present handcrafted jewellery, perfect for gifting or treating yourself. Discover an array of unique pieces, from timeless classics to contemporary creations, ringing with festive cheer and exceptional craftsmanship.

“Churches ringing out the lustiest peals he had ever heard. Clash, clang, hammer; ding, dong, bell. Bell, dong, ding; hammer, clang, clash! Oh, glorious, glorious! Running to the window, he opened it, and put out his head. No fog, no mist; clear, bright, jovial, stirring, cold; cold, piping for the blood to dance to; Golden sunlight; Heavenly sky; sweet fresh air; merry bells. Oh, glorious! Glorious!”
— A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens
