LEARN-TO: Advanced Jewellery Techniques Workshop [JAN - MAR]

Start Date: Friday 16 January, 2026

End Date: Friday 20 March, 2026

Start Time: 10am

End Time: 4:30pm

Venue: FORGE

This brand new 10-week workshop is an in-depth, skills-led programme focused on advanced construction techniques for contemporary jewellery. Designed for jewellers who want to deepen their technical understanding, the course concentrates on precision, durability and professional standards of making.

Rather than producing finished, design-led pieces, participants will work through a series of structured technical exercises. These exercises are designed to build confidence and accuracy, allowing you to apply the techniques independently to your own designs after the workshop.

With just 5 places available, this is an intimate learning environment offering individual guidance, focused bench time and space to fully understand how jewellery is constructed.

Every Friday | Starting Friday 16 January | 10 weeks

What will I make?

This workshop is focused on technical exercises rather than finished jewellery designs. You will make a series of precisely constructed samples that demonstrate each technique, creating a practical reference set to support your future work.

These samples are intended to build confidence and understanding, enabling you to apply the techniques independently to your own designs after the workshop.

What will I learn?

Over the course of 10 weeks, you will develop a strong technical foundation in mechanical and construction-based jewellery techniques, including:

  • Mechanical thinking and problem-solving in jewellery construction

  • Drawing wire and tube using a draw bench

  • Making tube from sheet

  • Cold jointing techniques, including tap and die and threading

  • Wire and tube riveting

  • Box catch construction

  • Pearl clasp construction

  • Hinge making for articulated and moving elements

  • Advanced soldering and assembly strategies

  • Stitching and cleaning with an engraver

  • Understanding tolerances, alignment, fit and finish

  • Improving structural integrity, durability and professional standards

What will happen during the course?

Each session focuses on a specific construction technique or group of related skills. Sessions include demonstrations, guided technical exercises, bench time and individual feedback.

Across the programme, you will:

  • Observe and discuss technical demonstrations

  • Complete structured bench exercises

  • Develop accuracy, repeatability and confidence

  • Receive one-to-one guidance and troubleshooting support

  • Refine finish, alignment and durability

The final sessions focus on integrating multiple techniques, refining professional standards and discussing how these skills can be applied to your own jewellery practice.
