Xiangzhi Zhao is a designer and maker currently studying Jewellery & Metal at the Royal College of Art, following a First-Class Honours degree from Central Saint Martins. His interdisciplinary practice explores the relationship between material culture, manufacturing technologies and historical contexts, viewing design as both a cultural language and speculative medium. Working with transparent enamel, copper foil and silver, Zhao investigates material behaviour through carefully controlled firing processes, reducing objects to their essential qualities of scale, shape and structure. His project exploring these material transformations received the Worshipful Company of Armourers and Brasiers Award at the Royal College of Art Graduate Exhibition 2026.
