Wytske Lazenby
Wytske is a silversmith based in Herefordshire, originally from Leiden in the Netherlands, who has lived in Britain since the 1970s. Initially trained as a saddler, she was drawn to the versatility and expressive potential of silver, a material that quickly captured her imagination, and she fell in love with silversmithing. Over time, her practice evolved from larger functional pieces to more intimate, small-scale work, suiting her hands and her creative curiosity. Miniature watering cans fit these criteria perfectly.
Using traditional techniques such as hammering and tube-making, Wytske explores silver’s infinite possibilities, bringing each miniature watering can to life. Easily bored by repetition, she approaches each piece as a fresh conversation with the metal. Guided by intuition, she develops textures and details as she works, allowing each form to emerge organically through the making process.
