Paula O’Donoghue
Paula O'Donoghue founded her eponymous brand to connect personal memory to cultural heritage. Inspiration is taken from her enchanting native Irish landscape, local folklore and stories of ór (Irish Gaelic for gold), the Bronze Age treasures found buried in the earth.
Paula offers clients a sense of wonder, of just unearthing something that has been buried in the earth, connecting with that history, for the jewellery to then begin its own story.
Pieces depict the living eco-system of peat-land, the organic matter ever-changing as the Irish climate. Shape and texture of peat soil, drenched moss, heather blooms, water pools and the texture of soft feathery bog cotton contrasted against the dark composed layers of peat are represented.
