What is our MasterMaker Series?
These monthly events embody what FORGE stands for: exceptional design, the preservation of skills, and the sharing of knowledge. They are limited to 10 people for a unique & intimate, exclusive experience with a highly skilled & accomplished designer.
During 5 captivating hours, you’ll engage in a talk, witness a live demonstration, and partake in a hands-on workshop, all guided by the MasterMakers themselves. The event concludes with a relaxed chat and mingle over wine and delicious sushi from our neighbours Mugen.
What will I make?
Following an insightful talk, you will participate in an exclusive afternoon MasterMaker workshop. Here, you will create unique molten metal settings that will be transformed into a beautiful piece of jewellery. You will:
- Shape and form your settings
- Prepare your mould
- Practice torch control
- Practice using a collett forming block
- Set your stones directly into molten silver
- Turn your molten set component into an item of jewellery
What will happen on the day?
This is a wonderful opportunity to hear Tamara share her journey and how her work has evolved over the years. You will have the chance to handle some of her stunning pieces, learn about her creative processes, and explore her various commissions. During this session, you can ask questions, browse through her sketchbooks, and gain an insightful understanding of her practice.
In the workshop portion of the day, Tamara will guide you through creating her signature organic molten settings using sterling silver round tubes. You will learn how to prepare your mould, ensuring it is ready for the molten setting process.
You will also gain proficiency with a collet forming block and practice torch control, an essential skill for precision work in jewellery making. The course will cover the technique of setting stones directly into molten silver, allowing you to seamlessly incorporate sapphires into your designs with this organic style.
Finally, you will transform your molten set components into stunning pieces of jewellery, applying the skills and techniques you've mastered throughout the course.
The day will conclude with a relaxed mingling session over sushi and drinks at FORGE, where you can share the beautiful pieces you have made during the day.
