What is our MasterMaker Series?
These monthly events embody what FORGE stands for: exceptional design, the preservation of skills, and the sharing of knowledge. They are limited to 10 people for a unique & intimate, exclusive experience with a highly skilled & accomplished designer.
During 5 captivating hours, you’ll engage in a talk, witness a live demonstration, and partake in a hands-on workshop, all guided by the MasterMakers themselves. The event concludes with a relaxed chat and mingle over wine and delicious sushi from our neighbours Mugen.
What will I make?
Following an insightful talk, you will participate in an exclusive afternoon MasterMaker workshop. Here, you will hand make a beautifully intricate silver chain ring using the Spiga chain-making technique. You will:
Shape and form your links
Solder the links using pick soldering
Shape the chain
Solder and form the ring
Clean up and polish in hard to reach areas
What will happen on the day?
This is a wonderful opportunity to hear Lucie share insights into her journey, discoveries, and achievements, including her breadth of work spanning from sculpture to jewellery, and her experiences exhibiting at major shows worldwide.
You will have the chance to handle some of her stunning pieces, learn about her creative processes, and explore her various commissions. During this session, you can ask questions, browse through her sketchbooks, and gain an insightful understanding of her practice.
During the workshop part of the day, Lucie will teach you how to make a Spiga ring, which is a completely new workshop she will be offering for FORGE. You will learn to create the perfect sized links for this type of chain, which will then be soldered together and twisted to create the classic Spiga shape. Lucie will then show you how to translate this chain into a beautiful ring.
The experience will be rounded off with a relaxed chat with Lucie while enjoying delicious sushi from our local neighbours at @mugen and sipping wine.

Who is my instructor?
Lucie Gledhill is an award winning jewellery specialising in precious metals, focusing on wire weaving and chain-making—meticulous, repetitive processes akin to textile work. Embracing a low-tech approach, she often works in miniature, crafting in silence and with intense precision. As a chain maker, she explores chain not only as an object but as a medium to examine materiality and the interplay of materials.
