Mary Chris
Mary Chris is a storyteller who works across jewellery, illustration, and writing. Inspired by fantasy and worldbuilding, she invites audiences into another cosmos, where the tension between beauty and cost is made tangible. Here, creation is never neutral and every act of making draws something from the artist in return.
Through maps, hidden mechanisms and playful moments of discovery, her work invites viewers to uncover stories for themselves, with pieces that open, move and can be rearranged by the wearer.
Underlying Mary's practice is the question: What is the cost of the things we make? Rather than offering answers, she invites audiences to imagine their own narratives and question the value of what we create. She holds an MA in Jewellery & Metal from the Royal College of Art.
