What will I make?
You will make a sterling silver cloisonné enamel pendant.
What will happen on the day?
In this class you will be guided through making a silver cloisonné vitreous enamel pendant using a sterling silver 30mm x 20mm oval shape that has been prepared for your use. Or for more experienced enamelers, you will have the option to making a 30mm round domed pendant.
You will be introduced to a range of methods and techniques which will give you the skills to translate your design from paper to metal. Beginners will be able to make something simple, whilst those with more experience can develop their skills.
You will learn how to form the wires for your chosen design and transfer them to the metal. Layers of enamel will be added, and you will learn how to graduate and blend the colours into one another.
Having created your piece, you will then be guided through finishing, learning how to grind the surface flat and achieve a smooth polished enamel surface.
You will finish with a piece that is unique to you, and have a greater understanding of enamelling techniques that you can take forward into further projects. You are also welcome to bring any pieces you have started at home for advice, and to work on alongside this project.
