LEARN-TO: Laser Weld [MARCH 2026]

Date: Friday 27 March, 2026

Start Time: 10.30am or 2pm

End Time: 1.30pm or 5pm

Venue: FORGE

This practical workshop introduces you to using a laser welder for jewellery making. You’ll learn the basics of safe operation, how to set up the machine, and core techniques for joining, repairing, and adding metal. We’ll cover how to build up material, fill pits or gaps, and reinforce settings and joints with precision. By the end, you’ll have the skills and confidence to use a laser welder not only for clean joins and seamless repairs, but also for creative applications where extra metal is needed in your own jewellery work.

Freeform Fabrication will once again be supporting this workshop with the DaDo machines.

If this date doesn't work for you, we have plenty of other sessions available!

What will happen on the day?

You will be guided through the different output settings and how they apply to a range of metals and alloys, gaining an understanding of how the laser interacts with different materials. We will explore both the manufacturing and repair applications of laser welding, particularly where traditional soldering may not be suitable. Alongside this, you’ll learn how to add metal, build up worn areas, and fill gaps with precision, supported by a practical introduction to metallurgy for the jeweller.

At the end of the workshop you will have a good understanding of how to use the machine safely and effectively. You will learn on our Master 4.0 laser welder which is available to FORGE CLUB members to book and use.
