Jean Scott-Moncrieff

Jean’s work is characterised by simplicity of form and line, influenced by ancient Mediterranean cultures. She begins each piece by modelling in silver before translating the design into gold.

Using traditional hand tools and techniques, including piercing, drilling, planishing and forging. Jean works in high-carat gold and silver, often incorporating old-cut gemstones, cabochons and beads. She carefully selects stones for their unique inclusions and character, and frequently alloys gold when working with clients’ heirloom pieces. Each piece is handcrafted in her Sussex studio and finished to a soft matt surface with burnished edges.

Jean has exhibited widely, including at Goldsmiths’ Fair since 2003, and her work is held in the Goldsmiths’ Company Collection.
