Kennack Sands brooch

This brooch features three 15mm hoops, sandcast in 9ct SMO gold, using sand from Kennack Sands in Cornwall. Each tube is set with a different stone, the three larger purple stones are spinels and the smaller stones are Australian parti sapphires.

Designer intro


Iain is an artisan jeweller creating one-of-a-kind pieces with a focus on texture and form. A former cell biologist, he transitioned to jewellery in 2020 after two decades in pharmaceuticals, driven by a desire to create and work sustainably. Largely self-taught, he has completed Fine and Advanced Jewellery Diplomas with the Jewellers Academy and exhibited at Goldsmiths North and Made Brighton. His designs reimagine iconic forms from nature and architecture, using sandcasting to create texture and ethically sourced gemstones for colour. Iain works exclusively with recycled precious metals and SMO gold from his South Cambridgeshire studio.
