We are hiring: Freelance Social Media & Marketing Expert
About Us:
FORGE is a young, award-winning creative hub for jewellery design and craftsmanship in Hatton Garden, London. Since launching in February 2023, FORGE has been incredibly well received, recently winning the National Association of Jewellers award for "Community Engagement of the Year." Also this year, we were Highly Commended at the UK Jewellery Awards for "Store Design of the Year" and shortlisted for "Best New Store or Best Refurbishment of the Year" at the Professional Jewellery Awards. Committed to enriching lives through creativity, FORGE offers a welcoming space where people can LEARN, MAKE, and BUY jewellery. As we grow and expand, we’re looking for a talented and dynamic PR and Marketing Expert to help us build FORGE’s presence across digital and social platforms and engage with our community in person.
Role Overview:
We're seeking a motivated, high-energy freelance PR & Marketing Expert to plan, create, and deliver social media content, advertising campaigns, and newsletters. This role is for a creative self-starter who thrives on generating fresh ideas and engaging content, with strong technical skills in digital marketing.
This isn’t just a digital role—being hands-on at FORGE is a key part of it. Working in person will provide a unique understanding of FORGE’s multifaceted offerings and our vibrant community. Your on-the-ground involvement will allow you to capture authentic, real-time content for social media, newsletters, and campaigns. This might involve assisting with showcases, workshops, events, and customer care, which will deepen your understanding of FORGE and enhance the quality and relevance of the content you produce.
A keen interest in jewellery is a plus, but we’re primarily looking for someone who’s passionate about creativity, quick to learn, and excited to grow with FORGE, not just view it as a stop-gap role. You’ll be an integral part of our expansion journey over the next three years, with opportunities to make a tangible impact in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, plan, and execute social media strategies for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and X, ensuring each platform reflects FORGE’s brand and goals.
- Design and produce visually engaging content using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).
- Create and manage Mailchimp newsletters, using automation and targeting to maximise engagement and retention.
- Contribute to the daily running of FORGE, assisting with the setup of showcases, workshops, events, and customer care, providing opportunities to capture live content.
- Proactively suggest and lead creative approaches for future digital campaigns, newsletters, and growth opportunities.
- Monitor and analyse campaign performance, using metrics such as engagement rates, follower growth, and feedback to refine strategies and measure success.
What Success Looks Like in This Role:
- Increased engagement across all social platforms and newsletter open rates.
- Positive feedback from the FORGE community and event attendees.
- Successful execution of creative, high-quality content that resonates with FORGE’s audience and aligns with our brand identity.
Who You’ll Work With:
- Amanda Mansell – Director and Founder of FORGE, with years of expertise in jewellery design and entrepreneurship.
- Rachael Plassard – Workshop Coordinator, overseeing all workshop-related activities and helping ensure a smooth running of the space.
- Emma Perry – Showcase and Events Coordinator, responsible for curating and managing showcases, private views, and special events.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience with social media management, content creation, and PR/marketing, particularly for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and X.
- Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).
- Proficiency in Mailchimp and understanding of automation across platforms.
- Excellent customer care skills and a team-player mentality.
- Hands-on, motivated, and able to take initiative within a fast-paced, creative environment.
Preferred Experience & Attributes:
- Interest in the jewellery industry and knowledge of trends within the creative sector.
- Strong sense of flexibility and willingness to jump into various projects, ensuring smooth operations.
- Desire to grow with FORGE over the next three years as we expand our reach and offerings.
Work Schedule & Requirements:
- In-person at FORGE, with flexibility on which days; occasional Saturdays and evenings may be required depending on events, workshops, and showcases.
Compensation:
- Pay will be negotiated with the right candidate, based on experience, number of days and suitability for the role.
Additional Perks:
- Opportunities to attend FORGE events, networking sessions, and access to exclusive showcases.
- Potential for professional growth as FORGE expands, with increasing responsibilities and project involvement.
Application Instructions:
Please submit your application to info@theforgespace.com by 10th November.
To ensure we find the right candidate, your application should include:
- CV outlining relevant experience and qualifications.
- Portfolio with examples of social media accounts you currently or previously managed, showcasing successful campaigns, growth, and content variety.
- Sample Posts demonstrating your approach for each social media platform for FORGE:
- TikTok
- X
- Content Strategy Suggestions explaining your ideas on using each platform and newsletters to enhance FORGE’s brand, engagement, and visibility.
- Three examples of other social media accounts you manage.
- Two professional references from current or previous clients who can speak to your skills, creativity, and reliability.
- Statement of Interest (short paragraph) on why you’re excited about this role and how you see yourself contributing to and growing with FORGE over the next three years.
We’re excited to find someone who sees this as an opportunity to be part of FORGE’s journey and growth. If you’re a creative thinker, self-motivated, and ready to make an impact, we’d love to hear from you.
