In this intensive two day class, you will learn the trade secrets of master setter Brian Fagen, who has 50 years of experience in the jewellery trade.
You will learn the technique of setting fancy shaped stones, including hints and tips to help you work efficiently and accurately, giving you confidence in your setting practice.

What will I Learn?
In this class you will have the opportunity to practice on pre-made mounts, as well as setting your own projects.
What will happen on the days?
This class will begin with a demonstration from the tutor, who will guide you through the process of setting different fancy shaped stones, offering secrets of the trade to help you gain confidence in your setting practice.
You will start with practicing using cubic zirconias on pre-made mounts, allowing you to hone your setting skills without the expense.
You can then move onto your own individual projects if you wish, with the opportunity to troubleshoot any difficulties you are having. Please get in touch prior to the class to let us know what you are working on so the tutor can prepare for this.
Following this course there is the opportunity to undertake further setting classes, covering techniques such as bezel/rub over setting, 4 claw setting, flush/gypsy setting, grain/star setting and pavé setting.
What skills do I need?
Difficulty Level: MEDIUM/HARD
Some previous jewellery making experience is preferable.
What should I bring?
Reading glasses (if you need them!)
Notebook & Pen/Pencil
What should I wear?
Clothes: Casual and not too precious as they may get a bit dusty or damaged. Avoid long, loose fitting sleeves and anything that might catch or get caught whilst you are working.
Shoes: Casual flat shoes and no open toed sandals.
Hair: Tie long hair back.
