MAKE-DAY: Friendship Day Ring SAT 20 JULY

Date: Saturday 20 July, 2024

Start Time: 10am

End Time: 1pm

Venue: FORGE

Celebrate friendship day by spending the afternoon making a beautiful piece of jewellery, right in the heart of Hatton Garden, London's jewellery epicentre! You will be guided through the process of making a textured, silver ring, learning essential jewellery making techniques along the way.

What will I make?

You will make a silver textured friendship ring using a variety of traditional jewellery making techniques to form and texture your ring which you can then gift to your friend at the end of the session.

What will happen on the day?

At FORGE, you'll be crafting a unique silver ring, surrounded by stunning jewellery created by independent makers. Let their artistry inspire your creativity as you embark on your jewellery-making journey.

Our expert instructor, will guide you through the process, teaching you how to form, bend and solder silver. No experience needed, just come with an open mind and a willingness to explore your creative side.

After measuring the finger you'd like to wear your ring on we will work out how much silver you will need. You will then bend and form the silver to make your rings, and solder and texture them before applying a bright or satin finish.

For and additional £30 per ring you can also opt to yellow gold or, rose gold plate your rings for that extra richness or contrast.  This is outsourced to professional platers so will need to be collected or posted to you a few week later.

What skills do I need?

Perfect for those starting out or who have little to no experience.

What should I bring?

- Reading glasses (if you need them!)

- Money or card payment for optional gold plating and posting rings to you (if collecting isn't possible)

What should I wear?

Clothes: Casual and not too precious as they may get a bit dusty or damaged.  Avoid long, loose fitting sleeves and anything that might catch or get caught whilst you are working.

Shoes: Casual flat shoes and no open toed sandals in case you drop a hammer or something hot on them!

Hair: Tie long hair back.
