What will I make?

In this workshop, you will create a sterling silver cloisonné enamel pendant and a pair of earrings, or you may choose to make a shape that can be turned into a brooch at a later date.

What will happen on the day?

Our experienced instructor will guide you through the process of making a silver cloisonné vitreous enamel pendant and earrings using the sterling silver rounded square shapes provided. Should you prefer, the larger shape can be transformed into a brooch at a later stage.

Here's what you'll do:

  1. Design Creation: Start with a simple silver wire design.

  2. Enameling: Add layers of enamel to your design, each layer being kiln-fired to build up vibrant colors over three to four firings.

  3. Texture and Detail: Incorporate silver foils and gold leaf to enhance texture and interest.

  4. Finishing Touches: Grind and polish the enamel and silver to achieve a beautifully finished piece.

For those with previous enameling experience, this workshop offers an excellent opportunity to refine your skills with new techniques and insights, helping you to further enhance your craft.

What skills do I need?

Beginners Perfect for those starting out or who have little to no experience.

Intermediate For those who already have some prior knowledge on the subject or have relevant skills.

What should I bring?

- Reading glasses or magnifier for closeup work if you need it

-   Apron to protect your clothes

-   Fine scissors that cut at tips for cutting wires

-   Any previous pieces if you would like advice on how they could be improved
